i wrote this story is it sad:

Hi, I’m Tammy and I’m fourteen years old. I live in a trailer home with my father. Me and my four sisters are very close because our dad is never home. I have to feed and take care of them. My sister’s names are, Leah, Gabby, Natasha, and Natalie. I also have four very close brothers to. Their names are Tyler, Zach, Xavier, and Peter. My mom died when I was three from smoking and my dad is either gambling our out drinking. The only person (or animal) that understands me is my dog Arrow. I wish I had a real person to let all my feelings out to. Well until then, this is my diary entry,

I was up doing some chores until 12:00 A.M. My dad came home ‘round one. I couldn’t wait to talk to him but he just walked up to his room and drank out of his little liquor bottle and wouldn’t answer me. I called his name several times but he still ignored me. I heard Natalie wake up and walk into the room. I silently whispered, “Natalie no! Get out of pa’s room! He don’t like that!” I warned her. She had mad pa mad. He slapped her right across the face. I couldn’t stand looking so I ran with tears in my eyes back to my room with my baby sister balling behind me.

I peeked into my pa’s room and saw him taken drugs. I couldn’t help myself but to say, “Pa! How could you do this? We’re livin’ children! Stop this nonsense right now!” I gasped and threw my hands over my mouth. My pa turned and said, “Don’t you ever talk to me that way young lady!” and he slapped me across the face. He tried to finish saying something but he dropped to the ground. He was dead.

Here I am alone in my room with no one to support me but my dog and my siblings. I feel so lonely! School is coming up. How can I pay? I don’t have a permit to teach so I can’t home school my sibs. I’m lost and confused but the only person I can go to is my grandma Lee. My grandma is meaner and snottier then pa. What should I do? Please lord help me figure this out and live through all of the troubles and one more thing…. Please bring back ma.

The next day I packed up for the first day of school. I finally got a job as a crop picker. My siblings and I are running out of food. We need money! Well, me and my sibs are goin’ to school today. “Ok everyone to your seats!” my homeroom teacher said. “We will be introducing ourselves and telling facts about each other. I’ll go first. I’m Mrs. Sweetly and you are?” She picked on a hand raised in the front row. “I’m Josh and I come from a VERY rich family. We own a farm, a mansion, and a yacht!” he bragged. She picked another hand. “Hi I’m Mina and I live with my pa who is really nice!” she said. The teacher chose me. “Uh… hi I’m Tammy and my ma is dead so is my dad. My mom died of smoking and my dad died 2 days ago and now I need to take care of my sibs.” I explained.

After school I did my math homework when I turned me and my sibs to an orphanage. It’s cold, damp, and the people here are just like my father except one grown up….. Miss Betty. Miss Betty is really nice and understands me. We are now really good friends. And I made a new friend at school today, Mina. Mina is really fun and nice! I’ve never known what it’s like to have a friend but…. But now! I have a true friend! Today was great!

The next day at school me and Mina were talkin’ by the swings. She noticed all of my bruises and asked, “Why do ya’ll have all of those bruises?” I replied, “Oh my pa used to hit me and stuff. No big.” “Why didn’t ya’ll call the cops for child cruelty?” asked Mina. “Cause, my pa would really hurt me then.” I answered. “Wow my pa’s so nice! I lost my ma when I was two because she had cancer.” Mina said. “Wow!” I replied. We walked away just in time for church.

In church, I prayed and sang in the choir. Me and Mina walked home together. Remember when I said mom died? I actually don’t really know what happened to her after cancer and the hospital. I’ve heard some people say after, my father abused her when I was too young to know. So she fled. When I got home today I heard a soft voice say, “Honey, I’m back.” in the most possible comforting way. I thought, Could it be? And it was true. Ma was home! I ran and hugged her like I never did before. I felt a tear trickle down my cheek. I wiped my face in my ma’s shirt. She said, “Honey, I heard pa died so I felt horrible and came back. Of course I wouldn’t want you stuck with his ma.” she said kiddingly. “Oh ma I can’t believe it’s you! It’s been 11 years ma! 11 years!” I moped crying in her arms. “Some things are better off to be.” she exclaimed. “It was meant for me to come home and I knew it.” “Oh ma….. I haven’t said this in 11 years but….. I love you. I love you ever so much!” I grabbed her sleeve and wiped my tears. “I love you to hun.” she said, tears coming to her eyes. And that’s how it ends. Happily ever after. I guess there IS such thing as happily ever after. Well, until my next book,
